How to get chosen for local Tasks

By the Momsity team · Updated

Members choose the MOM who looks most likely to get the job done well. That comes down to a profile that says clearly what you do, services and an area you can actually cover, offers that are fair for the work described, quick and clear messages, and doing exactly what was agreed. None of it guarantees a Task, but each step makes you an easier choice.

Write a bio people can picture

Your bio is where a Member decides whether you seem reliable. Skip the adjectives and describe what you actually do, when you're available, and anything that makes you a good fit.

MOM bio

Instead of: “Hardworking and reliable! I can do anything!”

Try: “I live near the north side and have weekday mornings free. I'm happy to take on laundry, returns, organizing, and dog walks. I have a car for errands and I'm comfortable with big dogs.”

Offer services you're good at

It's tempting to tick every box. It works better to start with the services you'd be proud of and add more later. Members notice when a profile looks focused.

Rides, moving, car help, and house sitting need Momsity approval before you can offer them. If you're qualified, request approval in your profile.

Set an area you'll really travel

Your service radius decides which Tasks you see and may be notified about. A radius that's too wide fills your list with Tasks you'll turn down; too narrow and you'll see very few. Start with the distance you'd happily drive on a busy day.

Make fair offers

When you offer, you set the payout you're asking for. Read the Task carefully and price the whole job, including travel and waiting time. The Member sees a total that includes Momsity's fee, and they may compare several offers, so an offer that matches the work described is easier to say yes to.

Reply quickly and clearly

Once a Member chooses you and pays, accept the Task and confirm the details in Task messages: the time, anything you'll need, and how you'll get in. A short, specific message goes further than a long one.

First message

Hi! I'll be there Thursday between 10 and 11. I'll bring my own detergent unless you'd like me to use yours. Is the laundry room through the side door?

Finish strong

  • Do what the Task describes, and ask before changing anything
  • Send a short update or photo when it's helpful
  • Mark the Task complete when it's done
  • Keep coordination in Task messages so there's a record

Common mistakes

  • A one-line bio with no services or availability
  • Offering on Tasks far outside your area
  • Making offers without reading the full Task
  • Moving the conversation off Momsity

Where Momsity fits

On Momsity, Members post Tasks and nearby MOMs choose which to offer on. Members compare who offered and choose their MOM, pay through Momsity, and the payout is released through Stripe after the Member confirms, or automatically 72 hours after you mark the Task complete if no review is opened.

What Momsity doesn't do

  • Momsity doesn't guarantee income, hours, or a number of Tasks.
  • MOMs are independent contractors and choose which Tasks to offer on.
  • Childcare and medical care aren't offered on Momsity.
