Momsity

Before you request a local ride

By the Momsity team · Updated

Check availability first, give pickup and drop-off areas with a time window, add buffer time for anything with a hard deadline, and say exactly who's riding and what they're bringing. Always have a backup plan for rides that can't be late.

Availability comes first

On Momsity, ride Tasks are offered only by MOMs Momsity has approved for rides, and only where rides are permitted. That makes rides the most limited service on the platform. Post well in advance, and don't rely on a ride Task for a trip you can't afford to miss without a backup, like a taxi, rideshare, transit, or a campus shuttle.

Timing: build in a buffer

For anything with a hard deadline, like a flight, a train, or a scheduled appointment, work backward and add margin for traffic and parking. Say in the Task when the rider must arrive, not only when to pick them up.

For an airport run, include the airline and departure time, or the flight number and landing time for a pickup, so the driver can adjust to delays.

Who and what is riding

  • How many passengers, and their first names
  • How much luggage, and anything bulky like a bike box or a trunk
  • Whether the rider needs extra time or help carrying bags
  • Pickup and drop-off as general areas in the Task, with exact addresses shared privately after assignment

Arranging a ride for someone else

If you're booking for a parent or a student, give the driver the rider's first name and tell the rider who's coming. Agree on a pickup spot that's easy to find, like a specific entrance or a lobby, and on how they'll find each other if plans change. Keep the coordination in Task messages so you can see it too.

When a ride Task is the wrong choice

Ride Tasks aren't medical transport and aren't for emergencies. If someone needs medical supervision on the way, or the situation is urgent, call 911 or use a medical transport service. Unsafe transportation isn't allowed on Momsity.

Ride request checklist

  • Pickup and drop-off areas, exact addresses kept for private messages
  • Date, pickup time, and required arrival time
  • Flight or train details if relevant
  • Riders and luggage
  • A backup plan if no one offers

Where Momsity fits

When a MOM approved for rides is nearby and rides are permitted, you can post a ride Task, compare offers, and pay through Momsity. Messages stay on the Task, which helps when someone else is the rider.

What Momsity doesn't do

  • Rides aren't available everywhere, and a posted ride Task may not get offers.
  • Momsity doesn't claim that ride MOMs are commercially licensed drivers.
