College laundry
Laundry help for college students, arranged by parents or students
Shared dorm machines, a packed schedule, finals week: laundry is one of the first things to slide at college. On Momsity, a parent can post a laundry Task from home and a MOM near campus can offer to wash, fold, and return it. Students can post their own Tasks too.
It's the same Momsity marketplace used for everyday local help, arranged for a student away at school.
How it works for a student away at school
- Post a laundry Task with the campus ZIP and the timing that works for the student.
- Say how the handoff works: residence hall lobby, apartment door, or another agreed spot.
- MOMs near campus can offer. Choose one and pay through Momsity.
- Coordinate pickup and return in Task messages.
- Confirm when it's done. Payment is held until then.
Things to include in the Task
- Detergent preferences or sensitivities
- Anything to hang-dry or keep separate
- Whether bedding and towels are included
- The student's schedule, so pickup doesn't land during class
Good to know
Each laundry run is its own Task, so you post each time it's needed. Coverage depends on MOMs near the campus. Momsity doesn't promise a MOM at every school, so post a little ahead of when the laundry is needed.
Check your student's housing rules about visitors and deliveries before choosing a handoff spot.
How it works
Step 1
Post a Task
Choose the service, the ZIP where help is needed, and when it should happen, then describe the details. The exact address stays private until a MOM is authorized for that Task.
Step 2
Nearby MOMs offer
MOMs whose services and area fit can be notified and can offer on your Task. Not every area has a MOM available yet, so timing and coverage depend on who is nearby.
Step 3
Choose and pay on Momsity
Compare who offered, choose your MOM, and pay through Momsity checkout. You see the total before you pay.
Step 4
Coordinate in Task messages
Your MOM accepts and gets the details they need. Messages stay on the Task so the history and support stay together.
Step 5
Confirm when it is done
Your MOM marks the Task complete and you confirm. Payment is held until you confirm, or released automatically 72 hours after completion if you don't open a review.
Common questions
- Can I pay for my student's laundry from home?
- Yes. The parent can be the Member who posts and pays, and the Task takes place near campus.
- Does my student need an account?
- Not necessarily. A parent can post the Task and coordinate with the MOM in messages. Students who are 18 or older can also create their own account.
- How fast is turnaround?
- It's agreed between you and the MOM on each Task. Put the timing you need in the Task so MOMs can decide whether they can meet it.
