College move-in and move-out help near campus

Move-in day is a lot of boxes, a lot of stairs, and not much time. Move-out lands in the middle of finals. On Momsity you can post move-in or move-out Tasks near campus and MOMs nearby can offer to help, whether the family is there in person or arranging it from home.

What you can post

  • Loading, carrying, and unloading (MOMs approved for moving)
  • Dorm or apartment setup: unpacking, organizing, making the room livable
  • Assembling shelves, desks, and bed risers
  • Move-out cleaning and resets
  • Storage pickup, coordination, and retrieval
  • Donation drop-offs for things that aren't coming home

Plan around the calendar

Move-in and move-out weeks are busy. Post early with the date, the building, and what needs moving, and say whether there's an elevator or stairs. Check the school's move-in schedule and rules about carts, parking, and visitors.

Heavy lifting and loading are only done by MOMs approved for moving. Organizing, setup, cleaning, and assembly don't need that approval.

What to put in the Task

  • The move date and a time window, matched to the school's assigned slot
  • The building, floor, and whether there's an elevator
  • Roughly how much is moving: a carload, a few boxes, a futon
  • Whether a vehicle is needed or the family is bringing one
  • Who will be on site to meet the MOM, and how to reach them in Task messages

Move-out week checklist

  • Split the work into separate Tasks if it helps: one for packing and cleaning, one for loading or storage runs.
  • Check the housing office's checkout rules so the room cleaning matches what they inspect.
  • Decide ahead of time what's being donated, stored, or shipped home.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Post a Task

Choose the service, the ZIP where help is needed, and when it should happen, then describe the details. The exact address stays private until a MOM is authorized for that Task.

  2. Step 2

    Nearby MOMs offer

MOMs whose services and area fit can be notified and can offer on your Task. Not every area has a MOM available yet, so timing and coverage depend on who is nearby.

  3. Step 3

    Choose and pay on Momsity

Compare who offered, choose your MOM, and pay through Momsity checkout. You see the total before you pay.

  4. Step 4

    Coordinate in Task messages

Your MOM accepts and gets the details they need. Messages stay on the Task so the history and support stay together.

  5. Step 5

    Confirm when it is done

Your MOM marks the Task complete and you confirm. Payment is held until you confirm, or released automatically 72 hours after completion if you don't open a review.

Common questions

Can a parent arrange move-out help from home?
Yes. Post the Task with the campus details, choose the MOM, and coordinate in Task messages while your student handles the handoff on site.
Is this a moving company?
No. MOMs on Momsity are independent people offering help. For large moves or long-distance trucking, use a licensed mover.
What if no MOM offers for move-in day?
Busy weeks fill up and coverage depends on MOMs near campus, so post as early as you can. You aren't charged unless you choose a MOM and complete checkout.
