Local side jobs for MOMs that aren't childcare

Most side-hustle lists for moms are either online work or babysitting. If you'd rather get out of the house and help people nearby, without taking on other people's kids, there's a lot of in-person work that fits around school hours.

Here are the local side jobs that tend to work well for MOMs, what each one involves, and how to get started with or without Momsity.

What is a MOM?

MOMs are people who get things done. Done right. Done safely.

MOMs aren't just mothers. At Momsity, MOM is our name for the people who take on everyday Tasks for Members nearby. MOMs may be mothers, fathers, retirees, students, neighbors, or professionals. What they have in common is that they get things done.

In-person side jobs worth considering

  • Errand running: returns, package drop-offs, pickups. Flexible and easy to fit between pickups.
  • Laundry: wash and fold at a client's home or as pickup and return.
  • Cleaning and resets: a few homes a week during school hours.
  • Organizing: closets, pantries, garages, and move-in unpacking.
  • Pet care: dog walks and drop-in pet visits, often short and frequent.
  • Meal prep: cooking a week of meals in someone's kitchen.
  • Party and event help: setup, serving, and cleanup, often on weekends.
  • Furniture assembly: if you're handy with flat-pack instructions.

How to choose

  • Match the work to your free windows. Dog walks and errands fit short gaps; cleaning and meal prep need a few hours.
  • Count your real costs: gas, supplies, and taxes as an independent contractor.
  • Pick work you can do safely and well. Your reputation is what brings the next job.
  • Check local rules if you start your own business. Some cities require a business license.

Where Momsity fits

Momsity is one way to find this kind of work without marketing yourself. Members post Tasks, MOMs nearby choose what to offer on, payment runs through Momsity, and payouts go through Stripe. There's no fee to join and no minimum hours.

Momsity doesn't guarantee income or Task volume. It depends on what people near you post, and Momsity is still growing. Many MOMs combine it with other work.

How it works for MOMs

  1. Step 1

    Create your MOM profile

Join as an individual MOM or a MOM Business. Add your area, the services you want to offer, and a short bio. You must be 18 or older.

  2. Step 2

    Finish setup

Accept the Mom Agreement and set up payouts through Stripe. Some services, such as rides, moving, car help, and house sitting, need Momsity approval before you can offer them.

  3. Step 3

    Find Tasks near you

Browse Tasks Near You. When a Member posts a Task that fits your services and area, you may also be notified.

  4. Step 4

    Offer on what fits

Offer only when the timing, distance, and work suit you. You are never required to take a Task.

  5. Step 5

    Complete the Task

After a Member chooses you and pays, accept the Task, get the details, do the work, and mark it complete.

  6. Step 6

    Get paid through Stripe

Your payout is released after the Member confirms, or automatically 72 hours after you mark the Task complete if no review is opened.
